Android has started regressing ever since android 10. Who cares that 11 would be worse yet, we already know... While you are at it, Google, just don't release it st all. Remove the restrictions of android 10 and patch its bugs... S Surya GX3 5 hours ago Will pocof1 have meat android 11 ??????? How to prevent apps "sleeping" in the background on Android - Android Police

This story was originally published 2020/01/21 10:39am PST on Jan 21, 2020 and last updated 2020/05/30 9:35am PDT on May 30, 2020 .  There's nothing worse than picking up your phone, turning it on, only to realize the notification it's just received was probably supposed to have reached you 10 minutes (or, you know, hours) ago. Annoyingly, the root cause of this is frequently Android itself, trying to manage your phone's battery life by forcing "low" priority apps to go to sleep, with the end result being those delayed notifications. Fortunately, Android does offer you the ability to configure this behavior on some level, on an app-by-app basis, so that you can be more confident that notifications will be received when they're sent, not when your phone decides you should get them. Fixing this is relatively simple, and though the Battery Optimization feature may seem a little confusing at first, it really is just a few quick steps to resolve this annoying

StrandHogg 2.0 Exploit Explained – Why Users and Android App Developers should care - XDA Developers

Image
It’s 10:00 PM. Do you know where your Activities are? There’s a new vulnerability that can be exploited on millions of Android devices, and it’s a pretty nasty one, too. In a nutshell, this design flaw allows an attacker to present their own Activity (page) on top of another app’s, potentially confusing the user into giving away their private data. The vulnerability has been dubbed StrandHogg 2.0 and was recently disclosed by Promon, a Norwegian security firm. The StrandHogg 2.0 vulnerability theoretically affects all Android devices running Android versions as old as Honeycomb (3.0) and up to Android 9 Pie (9.0). Based on the latest Android version distribution statistics, that means that approximately 91.8% of all Android devices are vulnerable to StrandHogg 2.0 . The vulnerability was assigned CVE-2020-0096 and was given a severity level of “critical.” It doesn’t require any special permissions to work and can function almost entirely without user interaction. All a user has to d

Samsung Galaxy Android 11 Update Info (2020) - Gotta Be Mobile

Image
With the Android 11 release creeping closer, we want to take you through everything you should know right now Samsung’s plans for Galaxy phones and tablets. Earlier this year Google pushed its next operating system, dubbed Android 11, to Pixel users. The company has issued several versions of its Developer Preview but the update will expand to a full blown beta in June. Google hasn’t outlined the details in full, but we expect devices outside the Pixel family to take part in the beta testing process. The beta will stretch over the course of several weeks culminating with a release for Pixel devices (and perhaps some other Android-powered devices) sometime in the third quarter. This article may contain affiliate links. Click here for more details. With the Android 11 release getting closer and Samsung’s Android 10 roll out slowing down, Galaxy users are starting to think about the future. While some Android OEMs are talking about Android 11, Samsung has remained silent. That p

Australia Samsung Galaxy A70 Android 10 (One UI 2.0) update scheduled for June - PiunikaWeb

Image
The Korean phone maker Samsung is usually at the forefront when it comes to pushing OS or monthly updates to its phones. The OEM’s latest Android skin, One UI 2.1, for quite some time now has been the show-stealer. But then, some still gawk the arrival of its predecessor One UI 2.0/Android 10. It goes without saying while the updates hit some regions first, it takes time to make it to the other regions. And this has been the plight of Samsung Galaxy A70 users in Australia, who’ve been waiting for the Android 10-based One UI 2.0 ever since it first landed on the devices, back ion March. One UI 2.0 (Android 10) update on Galaxy A70 For a quick recap, back in February, Samsung pushed the Android 10 update to Galaxy A70 units (though only a minuscule number got hands on it). Then in March, the update actually began to hit the units at a wider level. And then recently, it made way to Canadian Galaxy A70 devices too. But like we said earlier, not all regions get updates simultaneously

Download the latest OnePlus 7 and 7T series Open Betas, with snazzy new ambient display clocks - Android Police

Image
OnePlus has just posted downloadable images for the latest Oxygen OS Open Beta updates across the entire 7 and 7T series. Both updates (Open Beta 4 for the 7T/7T Pro and Open Beta 14 for the 7/7 Pro) include a handful of the usual bug fixes and improvements, plus May security patches, but there are two noteworthy features: Call recordings now appear in call history (in markets that have that feature), and the ambient display feature has picked up some eminently snazzy new clock styles. Changelogs for both updates (which are identical) are just below: System Fix the problem that some software voice input cannot be recognized Fix the problem of the disappearance of contacts in the address book on some devices More clock style options now available in ambient display (Settings—Customization—Clock style) Improved system stability and fixed general issues Updated Android Security Patch to 2020.05 Phone Now you can view call recording in call history (Move to the call histo

Samsung Rolls Out May Security Update for Galaxy S9/S9 Plus and Galaxy S8/S8 Plus - Gizchina.com

Image
Samsung has finally started rolling out the latest May 2020 Android Security patch update to its two older flagship series namely Galaxy S8 duo and Galaxy S9 duo. Since the official release of Android 10 by Google, the chaebol has drastically improved its software updates rollout schedule. We have seen devices getting the new major update ahead of the schedule which is something new for South Korean giant. With that said, the two forgotten flagship Galaxy S lineup has now started receiving the latest security patch, and here is everything you need to know. Samsung Galaxy S9 Duo May 2020 Security Update The smartphone maker has now started seeding the latest security patch to the unlocked variants of the device. Apart from the new security patch, the update does not bring anything new to the devices. The update has already rolled out to the bulk of devices already and if you haven’t, then you should be getting it anytime soon. As of now, the update is currently rolling out only in t

May security update out for unlocked Galaxy S9/S9+ in the U.S. - SamMobile

Image
The unlocked variants of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ started receiving the May 2020 Android security update all across the United States. The carrier-agnostic over-the-air packages already made their way to devices on all major networks in the country, as well as many regional ones. The bulk of the rollout happened yesterday and no other changes were pushed out to users during the process. You may say that’s unfortunate, but let’s not forget the Galaxy S9 series is actually scheduled to receive a somewhat stripped down version of Samsung’s best mobile OS/Android implementation to date – One UI 2.1. So, while this smartphone duo is certainly not sitting near the top of Samsung’s after-sales priority list in mid-2020, it continues to enjoy respectable software support. Samsung’s 2018 flagships in their final year of monthly security patches The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are currently in their third year of monthly security patches, with Samsung being expected to transition them to quart

A New Google Maps Version Is Now Available on Android and Android Auto - autoevolution

Image
Google has just released a new Google Maps update for Android and Android Auto, so users who rely on this app for navigation, as well as those who like to explore new locations with the mobile app can download it right away. 6 photos As everybody knows already, Google doesn’t provide a changelog for new Google Maps updates unless there’s something truly big in there. So the lack of a changelog is typically an indication that the new Google Maps update is, in fact, a small release whose main purpose is to further polish the experience with the app and possibly to resolve a number of bugs reported by the community recently. This appears to be the purpose of Google Maps 10.41.4 for Android as well, especially since the version is just a small build increase from 10.41.2. I already installed the app on my Android device and didn’t notice any substantial change on Android Auto, but I expect the update to come with bug fixes for those who previously struggled with a specific feat

Galaxy S8/S8+ begin receiving update with May 2020 security patch - SamMobile

Image
A pair of new firmware updates for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ started rolling out to the international variants of Samsung’s 2017 flagships on Wednesday, introducing them to Samsung’s version of the May 2020 Android security patch. Identified by build number  G95xFXXS9DTEA, the over-the-air packages already appeared in Germany and the United Kingdom, with more countries being likely to follow shortly. No other additions or changes are part of the newly released software upgrades. As of recently, truly “monthly” security updates became a thing of the past for both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Samsung’s seminal full-screen smartphones recently turned three, marking the occasion by abandoning their monthly firmware upgrade cycle. While their official end-of-life point hasn’t been reached just yet, Samsung promises no future updates from this moment onward. Be that as it may, the world’s largest smartphone company still does its best to overdeliver whenever possible, which is why the

Samsung LineageOS 17.1 (Android 10) update devices - PiunikaWeb

Samsung is no longer the laggard it was a few years ago when it comes to rolling out major Android OS updates. Sure, not as timely as Google, but with Android 10, things have been way better than previous years. Make no mistake, Samsung is nowhere near perfect. Matter of fact, being the industry leader it is, the Korean company still has some work to do to catch up with Google or even OnePlus. For instance, whereas Google and OnePlus smartphones receive three major OS updates, Samsung, despite selling some of the most expensive smartphones on the planet, only guarantees two major OS updates. OnePlus 5 & 5T have received 3 OS updates, including Android 10 While the promise of regular security patches for up to four years takes some pressure off Samsung’s shoulders, two years of OS updates for devices that cost in the regions of $1,000 and increasingly more is simply unacceptable. Luckily, the massive Android developer community hardly disappoints on this front. Plenty of cust
