Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update global rollout a step closer - PiunikaWeb

Xiaomi has a new Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update rolling out in China as MIUI 11.0.2.0.QGGCNXM. This is the second Android 10-based MIUI 11 ROM for this device following the release of the first ROM last month.

To recall, China got Android 10 beta on the Note 8 Pro towards the end of last November. It took Xiaomi a little over a month to test and release the new OS for this device in stable, but the company has been unable to replicate this on a global scale.

The incoming Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update is still limited to select units as the beta stable version, with the wider rollout expected to follow suit in the coming days.

Xiaomi hasn’t attached the changelog to the announcement post, but it’s likely to include a new Android security patch alongside some performance optimizations and bug fixes.

Speaking of which, Xiaomi promised to enable Widevine L1 support for HD streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime with the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 10 update. At the time, we didn’t have an expected release date of this update, but not long ago, it was placed at mid-March 2020.

Still, plenty of doubting Thomases have been out there, something that recently pushed one of the company’s executives to reaffirm that indeed, the update to Android 10 is coming to the Note 8 Pro.

As for when exactly, it remains to be seen, but the fact that the Chinese variant is already picking up a second Android 10 build should mean something for global variants as well.

We will have our eyes on the developments and update this article when the global rollout begins. For now, we don’t have the download link for the latest Note 8 Pro firmware, so you will have to wait for the OTA update.
