Samsung Rolls Out One UI 3.0 Update For Galaxy Note 20 Series Globally - Android Headlines

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 devices in the US have already started receiving the latest Android 11-based One UI 3.0 public update. According to the latest report, Samsung also began pushing out the One UI 3.0 update to the Exynos-powered Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones globally.

This new update for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra international variant (SM-N986B) carries the build number N986BXXU1CTL5. It also includes the December 2020 Android security patch. Since it is a global rollout, the update might take a few more days to show up on all devices.

However, users can also manually check for the latest update by going to Settings > Software Update > Download. If the update is available, tap on the "Install now" button to download and install it. It is recommended to connect to a Wi-Fi network for downloading this update as it comes with huge file size.

Meanwhile, users with a carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 device will have to wait for their respective carrier to release this new update. On top of the latest Android 11 features, Samsung also introduced quite a few changes with the One UI 3.0. Apart from the visual changes, the latest OTA update will also bring performance improvements and better privacy controls.

The company claims the enhanced dynamic memory allocation and restricted background activities in One UI 3.0 will improve performance and battery life. Notably, the settings menu is now made simpler to access with new search features. Speaking of privacy controls, users can also give just one-time access to the microphone, camera, or location while using any app.

More importantly, the device will now automatically revoke the permissions of an app that aren't used for a long duration. The improved Accessibility shortcut in the One UI 3.0 makes it easier to use. Users can now access the Speak keyboard input aloud feature even with the TalkBack option turned off.

The improved media panel in notifications adds new options like quickly changing the playback device. Also, the updated Samsung keyboard app now supports a total of 370 input languages. Samsung also made it easier to paste copied images and verification codes from text messages. It will also suggest emojis and stickers based on the text entered.

Currently, the One UI 3.0 update is only available for the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy Note 20 smartphones. In the coming months, the company will also begin rolling out the same update for last-gen Galaxy S and Galaxy Note smartphones as well.
