"Spider-Man: No Way Home" Digital Purchase

"Spider-Man: No Way Home," the highest-grossing movie of 2021, will be available on-demand starting March 22. Though the film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it won't be included on Disney Plus. Instead, you'll have to buy it for $20 from streaming retailers like Amazon and Vudu.

With stars like Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Benedict Cumberbatch, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ends a trilogy of films in the MCU that began with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home." The film also brings back characters from the earlier trilogy of "Spider-Man" movies starring Tobey Maguire, and "The Amazing Spider-Man" films series starring Andrew Garfield.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" recently surpassed "Avatar" as North America's third-highest grossing movie release, generating $760 million in the domestic box office. The film has grossed $1.8 billion globally, making it the sixth-highest earner in film history. The movie also received critical acclaim, and currently holds a "93% Certified Fresh" rating on review-aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

It's unclear if a cheaper rental option will also be available on March 22. Rentals are typically available on the same day movies are released for purchase or about a month after. Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray versions of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will launch on April 12 for collectors who prefer a physical copy of the film.

Is 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' coming to Disney Plus or Netflix?

Sony's streaming contracts for films like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will keep it off Disney Plus and Netflix when it's released digitally — at least initially.

Instead, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is set to make its subscription video debut on Starz, the cable network and streaming service. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is available on Starz right now too.

Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch recently said "Spider-Man: No Way Home" should be available on Starz within the next six months. You can subscribe directly to Starz for $9 a month; a current deal offers three months for $5 or six months for $20.

Sony completed a separate deal with Netflix for films released in 2022 and beyond, so it's possible that "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will end up on Netflix after the initial release window with Starz is over.
