Frazee Turkey Days: The final day of Frazee's Turkey Days celebration starts with a tractor show, 9 a.m.-noon, and continues with an ABATE of Minnesota bike show, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; outdoor community worship service, 10 a.m.; turkey luncheon, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; pet and doll parade, 1:15 p.m.; Turkey Days Grand Parade, 2 p.m., with ice cream social to follow at the Event Center; demolition derby, 3:30 p.m.; and karaoke at the VFW, 6-10 p.m.

Shoreham Chapel Concert: Renee Fuchs and the Granders will be performing an outdoor concert at Shoreham Chapel in rural Detroit Lakes, starting at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome.

Wildlife Movie: A free screening of the family-friendly, wildlife-themed movie, "The Mighty Weasel," will be held at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Rigged with over 50 cameras an English garden gives rare insight into the dramatic life of a mother weasel as she tries to raise her first family. New science uncovers the problem-solving abilities of the honey badger, the secrets behind the ferret's legendary flexibility and the wolverine's remarkable sense of smell. All are welcome; movie lasts 50 minutes.

Community Worship Service: Detroit Lakes' New Hope Church will host an outdoor worship service at the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell, 1:30 to 4 p.m. Hot dogs and refreshments served after the service, which is open to the public. Questions? Call Pastor Zachary Priddy, 218-234-2017.

Welcome to Detroit Lakes: The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce, 700 Summit Ave., will host a free "Welcome to Detroit Lakes" event for new and returning local residents at 4 p.m. Learn about events, resources and information you can use to help "get connected" with the community.

Tuesdays in the Park: The Ulen Centennial Band performs live as part of Detroit Lakes' Tuesdays in the Park summer concert series at 7 p.m. under the City Park Bandshell. Picnic hosted by Fuller Center for Housing starts at 5:30 p.m. Seating is limited, so bring your own blankets or chairs. Admission is a free will donation; all proceeds from the picnic benefit Fuller Center's local housing projects, while donations for the concert go to support the artists.

Thursday, August 4

Storytime and Book Signing-Lisa Seljevold: Join local author Lisa Seljevold as she reads her new book, "My Two Dads," and answers questions from 10:30to 11 a.m. at the Detroit Lakes Public Library, 1000 Washington Ave. Attendees will also be able to create their own mini book. Copies of Seljevold's book will be available for sale and a book signing after the reading. Open to the public.

Food Truck Fridays: Hosted by Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary, Food Truck Fridays will take place every Friday through Sept. 2 at Detroit Lakes City Park, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Food trucks on site may change; event will be held rain or shine.

Saturday, August 6

Free Movie: A free screening of the family movie "Sing 2" will take place at 10 a.m. in Cinemagic 7 Theatres, Detroit Lakes. Concessions open at 9:30 a.m. Open to the public.

Bible Reading Marathon: The 7th Annual Bible Reading Marathon will take place at Detroit Lakes' City Park, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. No pre-registration required; just show up, register and start reading. Those who sign up will receive a free gift while supplies last. Open to the public.

Family Storytime: Come to the Detroit Lakes Public Library (1000 Washington Ave.) at 10:30 a.m. for a family storytime session.

Free Family Bike Ride: Detroit Mountain Recreation Area will host a free bike riding event for area families, sponsored by LAMBAT (Lakes Area Mountain Biking Alliance and Trails), starting at 9 a.m. if you would like to sign up for a free rental bike (adult and child sizes available, courtesy of the Detroit Lakes school district), 9:30 a.m. if you're bringing your own bike. Session starts out with basic coaching and riding on the skills park and then progresses into the single track trails for anyone interested in trying them out. If you can ride a bike on pavement, you can mountain bike with some practice! No cost to attend, but this event isn't intended for those who do not already know how to ride.

Knights Pancake Breakfast: The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a pancake/French toast and sausage breakfast in the Holy Rosary Parish Center, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

Shoreham Chapel Music and Worship: The Gomps Family will be performing as part of worship services at Shoreham Chapel in rural Detroit Lakes, starting at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome.

Wildlife Movie: A free screening of the family-friendly, wildlife-themed movie, "Pollen Nation," will be held at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Follow the journey of a commercial beekeeper from the honey harvest on the high plains to the warm winter feeding grounds of California. Learn why honeybees and numerous species of native bees are in serious decline and how it's affecting our dinner table and that of wildlife. All are welcome; movie lasts 25 minutes.

Tamarac's "Dynamic Duo" Presentation: Join insect enthusiast and nature photographer David Israel and Park Ranger James Kawlewski for "Dynamic Duo: Insects and Flowers," an exploration into the relationship between flowers and pollinators. Learn to identify insects through fantastic photography and out in the field. Discover how this dynamic duo provides food for animals and people. Learn how you can support pollinators in your own back yard. Free native plant seeds available. Meet at 2:30 p.m. in the Discovery Center at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.

Crazy Daze: The Detroit Lakes downtown business community and Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Craze Daze from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Food trucks, small business vendors, and downtown retailers will be taking to the street on Washington Avenue for a day of sidewalk sales, food specials and fun. Teen Writers Group: Teens interested in pursuing writing are invited to join this group at 4 p.m. for inspiration and support. WE Fest: Country music and camping festival returns to Detroit Lakes' Soo Pass Ranch for a three-day run, Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 4-6. Headliners are Jason Aldean (Thursday), Miranda Lambert (Friday) and Luke Bryan (Saturday). Ticket and camping packages available at wefest.com .

WE Fest Shuttle: The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce will be running shuttle buses to the WE Fest grounds and back into Detroit Lakes during all three days of the festival, Aug. 4-6 from 12 noon to 2 a.m. Shuttle users can take advantage of free day parking at the Becker County Fairgrounds while using the service. Cost is $10 for one day or $25 for a 3-day pass; there is no limit to the amount of rides you can take each day.

Vacation Bible School: Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, 12986 Co. Hwy. 15, Detroit Lakes will be hosting a "Monumental" Vacation Bible School for area youth ages 4-12, Aug. 7-11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening.

Book Sale: The Becker County Friends of the Library will host a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Aug. 9-10 at the Detroit Lakes Public Library, 1000 Washington Ave. A wide variety of books, movies and other materials, for all ages, will be available for purchase; cost is a free will offering, with proceeds going to support Friends of the Library projects in the community.

Saturday Critter Tales: Every Saturday through Sept. 3, join resident volunteer Sandi Wicklund at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge for some fascinating personal stories about wildlife encounters during her many seasons at refuges throughout the country. Learn about wildlife viewing etiquette and find out the best places to view wildlife at Tamararc. All ages welcome. Meet at 1 p.m. by the Tamarack tree in front of the visitor center for this 45 minute program.
