Samsung's Galaxy S23 lineup picks up a new software update - SamMobile - Samsung news

Samsung has rolled out a new software update for the Galaxy S23 series phones. Samsung's monthly security updates seem to be arriving later than usual these days, no doubt because the company's attention is on the One UI 6.1 rollout for eligible devices, but things may finally be getting back on track.

The May 2024 security update was recently releaed for devices like the Galaxy S24, and it is now making its way to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The US is the first market to get the update. The update debuted on some carrier-locked units, but we can expect a release for unlocked units (and for other countries) in the next few days.

Story continues after the break

The latest Galaxy S23 update (sporting a build number ending in CXD7) will probably not fix any battery drain issues you may be facing after installing One UI 6.1, as its sole purpose is to enhance device security. But that's okay, as the Galaxy S23 series doesn't appear to be affected by increased battery drain as much as some other devices (like the Galaxy Z Fold 5).

You can download the update on your Galaxy S23, S23+, or S23 Ultra through the phone's Settings » Software update » Download and install menu. If it doesn't show up, try checking again after a few hours. You can also find the full firmware files corresponding to this update in our firmware archive and install it on your phone manually using a Windows PC.
