The company is continuing to update its lineup of phones from the past few years, starting with the Exynos Galaxy Note9. The new firmware for the Note9 carries version number N960FXXS6ETHB . Aside from the prompt security patch, we're not sure what else is included, as the changelog isn't yet available. The over-the-air update is available now in the DBT region, which is Samsung code for Germany. This goes without saying, but if you do find the update firmware floating around online, do not flash it on your Snapdragon-powered Note9s. This post will serve as the roundup for Samsung phones updated with the September 2020 patch. We'll update it when this

While the original model has already been replaced by the Mi Box S in the States, Xiaomi hasn’t stopped pushing newer updates to its nearly four-year-old box. Now the company's rolling out Android 9 Pie to those enrolled in the beta program. This news comes courtesy of a Redditor who posted a screenshot (below) of their Mi Box receiving the Android 9 beta update weighing in at 620MB. The only thing mentioned in the included changelog is that the Mi Remote app will now be compatible with the Mi Box. Xiaomi usually sticks to stock UI for its Android TV boxes, so you should expect all the goodies that came with the Pie update for the Mi Box S. Recently, we talked about another upcoming feature, called “Expiring Media”, which would allow users to send self-destructing images, videos, and GIFs on the platform. WhatsApp update lets you delete images and videos on other people's phones - The Independent

A new WhatsApp update will allow users to delete an image, video or gif on someone else’s phone after sending it to them.  The Expiring Media feature, first spotted by the website WaBetaInfo, causes media to disappear after being viewed within a chat. In order to enable the feature, the sender needs to select a “view once” button when sending the image, video or gif. When it appears on the recipients phone, it is only visible while they are in the chat.  When they go to leave the chat, a message appears that states: “This media will disappear once you leave this chat.” Read more If they return to the chat, a bubble pops up that says: “View once photo expired.” The feature is still under development as part of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.20.2011 version of the messaging app. It is not yet clear when the public release date will be, though new features are usually tested on a limited scale for several months before rolling out to all users. OnePlus opens closed beta program for OnePlus Nord series - 9to5Google

Image
The OnePlus software release cycle has an interesting release cycle that consists of a closed beta, open beta, and final release. Today, just a few months after release, the Chinese OEM is now requesting signups for the OnePlus Nord closed beta program. Like many beta-related updates or tidbits, this decision was announced over on the official OnePlus Forums. These closed beta programs allow OnePlus to get direct feedback about upcoming features in a more controlled environment, with only a small number of people able to run said software builds. While this is an enticing prospect, this OnePlus Nord closed beta will only be made available to a limited number of fans. This time around, only 200 people will be able to enroll, and just owning a OnePlus Nord isn’t the only stipulation or “requirement” for acceptance. This time around, we will be accepting 200 people into this Closed Beta Program, the highest ever, and the chosen users will need to meet certain requirements. Also worth

Android Auto Text Notifications Broken Down Due to September Update - autoevolution

Image
If you recently noticed that Android Auto no longer offers notifications for text messages in your car, you’re not alone. 6 photos And as it turns out, the whole thing started in early September following a Google update, though right now it’s not yet clear if the culprit is a new version of the Google Messages app or the Android Auto. A few weeks ago, users reported a similar bug, complaining that text notifications were no longer issued when Android Auto was running on the screens in their cars. At that point, however, these users said that simply downgrading to a previous version of Android Auto, such as 5.5, fixed the whole thing, pretty much because build 5.6 was the one causing the problem. But users reporting these issues on the search giant’s forums now claim that the text notifications are also broken on non-Google phones where the Messages app isn’t installed, including Samsung and OnePlus models. “ I am having the same issue with my Note 10 plus. I have tried al

New updates are being added to this story……. Original story (published on May 19, 2020) follows: Google finally updated its Android distribution board with the latest details revealing what has become typical of new Android versions. Android 10, the latest stable version, still hasn’t hit a 10% market share nearly a year down the line. As noted, though, it’s nothing unusual coming from the Android realm. Slow OS updates are what best describe the platform and while Google has been making efforts like Project Treble to speed things up, they’ve barely been felt by end-users. Android distribution May 2020 (Source) One major reason new Android OS updates take ages to get hold of a significant market share is the speed at which big-name players like Samsung push the updates to eligible devices. Since Samsung has the biggest market share, how fast it rolls out new Android OS updates will determine how fast the new OS spreads globally. That said, Android 10 is still below 10% because
